I am thrilled that UNDER THE MESQUITE by Guadalupe Garcia McCall won the Pura Belpre Author Award. The Pura Belpre awards honor Latino authors and illustrators whose work best portrays, affirms and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in children’s books.
